While the design is simple, it's not user-friendly. The light is dim and barely usable. The device is activated and cycles through four modes by pressing a plunger that requires significant force. There are no external switches. To turn it on and get white light, you must extend the device, and to turn it off, you must compress it, which is made difficult by a rubber component. After turning it off, it doesn't remember the last mode. If you don't wait three minutes, it will turn on in the second mode, orange light. The subsequent modes cycle through slow color variations and then flashing red. To return to white light (or any other mode),you must cycle through all four steps by pressing the plunger four times, or wait three minutes for it to reset. This is a frustrating and inconvenient design.
