The wide seat square accurately measures the vertical deviation of the inner and outer corners of the workpiece.

It can accurately measure the vertical deviation of the inner and outer corners of the workpiece. Wide seat squares are commonly used gages for inspection and scribing work to verify the perpendicularity of the workpiece or to verify the perpendicularity of the longitudinal and transverse guides of the instrument. Usually made of cast iron, steel or granite.
